Nero and Alcohol are good. I have actually found Roxio and XP's built-in burner to be good for more simple things.
For pop-ups, one other thing you can do is ensure you don't have spyware. Get Adaware from the link in my signature if you don't have a spyware program. That will take care of the majority of the bad pop-ups (there are good pop-ups) I don't use a pop-up blocker and I have no problems with pop-ups whatsoever. Of course, I don't look at porn, German cracker web pages, etc., so you may be in a slightly different position :?:
