Default Re: buying a new processor

Well, it really depends on what you are going to be using the computer for. You didn't mention what socket you will be needing. Generally, an AMD 3200 is a great place to start. I would recommend getting a dual core AMD X2 if you are into extreme gaming and multitasking (video editing, word procession, photoshop, etc).

If your computer sucks, check how much ram you have. Is you system capable of using an extreme processor - power, ram, etc?
