Default Sound Audigy 2 Value Card

I have a Sound Audigy 2 sound card I got about 2 years ago. Well ever since I got it the card is as old as the drivers. I haven't looked for the new drivers yet. Which I will after this post. But I was just wandering; Can old sound drivers effect performance in a game, or overall performance with sound in general. Maybe if I get the new drivers (that aren't 2 years old) it could improve something. Just wondering. Thanks for any feedback.

It's my birthday today! I'm 19!
