It's safer that way as wire is faster, more reliable and more secure plus any signal interference will most likely be because you're running the network cable beside a power cable.
Sorry, I didn't want to post before as I'm totally against wireless networking in any form, but as you pushed me into replying so its your own fault if it isn't what you wanted to hear.
