Yes, that would likely be correct. Of course "SOME" BIOS's will support a unsupported (In the list) CPU good enough for you to flash to the one you need. But this is not very often the case and you would be correct in saying that he may need a Older CPU to flash with.

And do keep in mind Older CPU's when speaking of P45 boards Must be VRD11.1 power phase CPU, and are not compatible with VRD10 designed CPU's.

So always check the CPU support list for said board if you ever do need to pick up a cheaper "old" 775 CPU to be sure it is supported by the board as well as with the BIOS you have or think you may have.
