Re: Windows Vista 32Bit Upgrade to Windows 7 64Bit
Just Finished Upgrading to Windows 7 RC1 32Bit on my main machine. I did however last night do a complete Image of my HDD which is on another drive. It would not let me "Upgrade" to the 64bit version. I had to do a custom full install and still have to reinstall everything so I just downloaded the 32bit version and upgraded vista to it. I agree with you that Upgrading is not the best way. However I have a method in my madness. As there is not Upgrade route from RC1 to Retail when It comes out so I will be forced to do a full install fresh then which is when I will move all my systems to 64Bit. That will give me enough time to cull all the crap off this system and get down to the stuff I really need to keep as its just getting out of had. Upsettingly I had to do had Hard Shutdown towards the end of the upgrade as I ended up with a black screen with only a cursor and no hdd Activity after about 40 minutes so I took the plung and held the button. After a restart it was like preparing desktop and its all working so far. lol No BSOD anyway. its already **** loads faster than vista, i wish i could have just got the 64bit
