Microsoft has released a new build of Windows Media Player 9 - 9.0.0.3054.

When you add multimedia files that have custom file extensions to the Media Library, Windows Media Player 9 Series categorizes these media files as Other Media, instead of as All Music or as All Video.

AND .......I HATE DRM!
So....how much is integrated into it? because I have heard that it won't play certian files(.avi, .mpg, etc.) unless they are "approved" by microsoft.

Here what you should do: dont use WMP, get another player, ore more likely some other players!
many are free and works better!

ah well...i guess u r right. silly me
but that DRM can be switched off...try to go into option...its there :)
