ocz Revo drive speed issue.

Hi all

Moved from an X58A-UD7 to a Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3 motherboard. On the X58 chipset I have constantly got atto results of read 530/540 and writes of 470/490 on my OCZ Revo drive.

I installed the revo on the Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3 board and now my writes have dropped to 320/330, reads however are still very good and have not changed. Thinking I had not done a proper install i have reinstalled today and did a sanitory erase on the drive but the speed has not changed.

Any one know what this could be. I am not familiar with the new bios on the sandybridge chips and do not know if there is a setting i need to do on it. I have it set on achi mode in bios. Is there a problem with a Z68 chipset and the Revo?

I have done all the usual W7 tweaks just the same as on the UD7 so I dont know what the issue could be. I have posted this on the OCZ forums as well.

OCZ are saying that this problem sounds like the pci-e slot is not x4 speed. I bought this board because the Asrock website said that this board supported 2 x pciex at 8x8 with the 3rd slot running at x4. Can anyone confirm that this configuration is correct for this board when running SLi

Is your RevoDrive installed in the X4 (bottom) PCIE5 slot?
Note, your mobo user manual states:

2.7 SLI^TM and Quad SLI^TM Operation Guide
This motherboard supports NVIDIA® SLI^TM and Quad SLI^TM (Scalable Link Interface) technology that allows you to install up to three identical PCI Express x16 graphics cards.

ASRock tech support will need to confirm that your RevoDrive will run with X4 bandwidth in the PCIE5 slot with your SLI setup.
PM ASRock TSD - Sean C or ASRock TSD - Emily and ask them to look at this thread.

Patience, no replies are better than bad replies.
An interesting test would be to remove your lower SLI video card and run your ssd in this 8X pci-e slot to see if your ssd performance improves.

You might need to check out other ASRock forums. Even if they don't offer official support, you might find knowledgeable owners that might be able to help.
A web search using asrock motherboard forum turned up several well known sites that probably can help.
