In the Control Panel under Sounds>Playback Tab make sure that the correct default device is selected, ex: AMD HDMI Output, Speakers, Headphones or S/PDIF.

I can't get any sound coming from my mobo, not with the speakers connected at the back neither on the front connector with Headphones.
I checked the BIOS settings tried Onboard Audio (Enabled or Auto), downloaded the latest Realtek drivers from ASRock site but it's still mute as a dead fish.
There seems to be no problem IMHO if i look at he device manager:
The device is recognized and working fine.
Has ayone encountered this problem and has anyone got a solution apart from buying a PCI sound card?
Take care,

Thanks for answering but that doesn't seem to be the answer, Speakers are activated and working but nothing comes out?!
Everything looks fine.

try setting onboard sound to enabled instead of auto, then look in realtek sound and click the folder and disable front panel audio detection or use ac97 sound, then see if you get any sound
ive marked with blue cross where front panel audio detection is

Well,
I've tried evrything, but nothing seems to work.
I still have no sound on the rear panel through my speakers, and no sound on the front panel ( i've tried HD Audio and AC 97 connected to the mobo).
I've erased and cleaned my previous Realtek install and installed the new drivers and now i think the only reasonable option is to buy a sound card!
A pity for a one month old mobo but i don't want to wait too long for a replacement.![]()
i got the same problem....
when playing audio file, i see audio levels dancing up and down, bit nothing from speakers :(
