Default z77 Extreme 4 Intel USB 3.0 ports running at USB 2.0 speed

It appears that the USB 3.0 ports that are connected to the Intel USB controller are running USB 3.0 devices at 2.0 speeds. The two ports on the rear that are controlled by the ASMedia controller seem to be running at USB 3.0 speeds.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I have installed the latest Intel USB 3.0 driver. Seems like some BIOS handoff is not occuring with the Intel-controlled ports.

    Thanks,
    Don

Updated to BIOS v1.40 today, still the same issue. If I connect a USB 3.0 device to the front panel or rear panel USB 3.0 ports, I get the message that the device would perform better if it were connected to a Superspeed USB port. Connect the same device to one of the 2 ports controlled by the ASMedia controller, and it performs as a USB 3.0 device.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Did you install the Intel USB 3.0 drivers?

Ignore my post. It seems you have installed the driver.

Either no one has a similar working configuration or there is something very basic that I must have done wrong.
Is there no one (from ASRock or otherwise) who can offer insight into this problem?

    Thanks,
    Don

This is what it looked like in Device Manager. The Seagate GoFlex is a USB 3.0 device. I would expect it to be listed under the Intel USB 3.0 controller, but it is not.

Are you using the USB 3.0 port? Are you sure?
Check the driver version for USB 3.0 in Device Manager.
    ASRock > Products > Motherboard > Z77 Extreme4 > Download has the Intel USB 3.0 driver ver:1.0.4.220 (3-30-2012) download for win7 x64.

Yes, I am trying all of the USB 3.0 ports on the board. And I am using the Intel driver from the ASRock site. I have also tried a later version from the Intel site with the same results.

    Don,
What color is the front USB port? Is it blue or black? If it is black, then it is an USB 2.0 port.

    Regards.

The front panel ports are blue. That, combined with the fact that I plugged them into the USB 3.0 header on the board should mean they are USB 3.0. In addition there are 4 USB 3.0 ports on the back. 2 of them are connected to the ASMedia USB 3.0 controller and devices plugged into those two ports behave as USB 3.0 devices. The other two are connected to the Intel USB controller and devices plugged into those ports result in the "This device can perform better if plugged into a Superspeed" port message and the device itself reports a USB 2.0 connection and performs as a USB 2.0 device.

I have tried all six USB 3.0 ports on the board. Only the two that are connected to the ASMedia controller actually behave as USB 3.0 ports.

This seems more like a BIOS/Ivy Bridge/z77 issue of some sort. Either that or some ridiculously simple task I have not yet performed.

Did you ever solve this? I have the exact same problem on my Asrock z77 extreme6 motherboard and the Etron USB 3.0 controller craps out during big file transfers and is useless. So I basically have no usable USB 3.0 ports on my board.
