    Default ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 with Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V

    Hi,

I'm trying to get Server 2008 R2 and Hyper-V to run on a ASRock 890FX Deluxe4 motherboard with a AMD FX6100 processor. The install went fine and all looks good. The board is running firmware 1.7 to support the FX AMD Processor.

When I go into Hyper-V manager and even try to build a new VM when I start the VM I get an error ststing the Hypervisor is not running. Checking the Services on the box all Hyper-V services are running. I have "Secure Vuirtual Machine" enabled along with "IOMMU" which is enabled.

Did I go down the wrong path with this motherboard for Virtual Machines?

What seetings in the BIOS or OS need to be set inorder to start up a VM?

Thanks in advance for any on this issue..

Looks like although they still could be uploading the backup database. Unless the last backup database was 6 days old?

I was trying to post some stuff 2 days ago (night) and seen a lot of database errors pop up..

I've PM'd TT admins and reported the problem.
My PM's from five hours ago are not in my Sent Items folder so I sent another PM.
Two recent PM's to forum members were sent and I received responses.
We'll have to wait and see if they have a more recent forum backup so that we haven't lost 6 days worth of threads and posts.

Post #2 was originally the first post in this thread!

I have use 2008 R2 for VM's but later switched to using vSphere ESXi less overhead for the host. But has for your problem all you need to do is enable virtualization in bios and then start Server Manager and run the add roles wizard and select Hyper-v.

"Secure Virtual Machine" and "IOMMU" not sure about them. From what I saw on a quick google search IOMMU is the equivalent to Intel's VT-d which allows for "Passthrough". This is not really needed with Hyper-v as you cant passthrough a raid card or network card to a single vm like you can with vSphere ESXi. As for the Secure Virtual Machine maybe thats AMD talk for virtualization.
