Yes, the second slot (PCIE2) on this motherboard Asrock Z77 Pro3 is the only one supporting PCI-E 3.0.

BIOS has only the following settings for primary display: onboard, PCI Express, PCI. I am using PCI Express setting now. Tried also PCI.

MORE INFO: if changed BIOS setting "PCIE2 Link Speed" from "Auto" to "Gen1", and the 8750 card starts working in this PCI-E 3.0 slot, but is working only in the PCI-E 1.1 x16 mode (checked using GPU-Z tool).

I have exactly the same problem as the thread starter. I just assembled my new HW yesterday, and everything else went fine, except my mobo wont recognize Radeon card.
Any solution to this yet?

I have not solved this case yet.
You are the 3rd person I have seen having similar issue. One of the guys had ASRock Fatality board but luckily he had another PCI-E 3.0 slot where he got his card working.

I have filed problem reports for both ASRock and Sapphire to get technical support but have not received any response so far.

Maybe you should file the reports also to speed up the investigation if they receive many similar issues.

I am already considering to buy a new motherboard (not ASRock) to see if my problem gets solved, and to pinpoint the issue to graphics card or motherboard. It seems to be impossible to solve this in any other way, especially without any support from manufacturers.

its probably poor bios support for that card,asrock need to update the bios to support 7850 cards im guessing,its not the motherboard or the graphic card just hasnt been included into the bios yet

That's most likely it, but if it says it supports PCI-E 3.0 which is standard, it sounds strange that it does not work.

For me motherboard BIOS = motherboard, so it is then motherboard fault (not proven yet though) :)
It is useless no matter if it is BIOS or HW issue of the motherboard.

yes thats right pci-e3 should be supported but with all the brands of 7850's using different graphic card bios's maybe theres an issue or bug between gpu and mb,best way is to keep emailing asrock and ask them to test with sapphire 7850 card and your model of motherboard and maybe they can send you a bios to try

Yes. I am hoping that this could be solved by BIOS update. So far they have not contacted me after I technical support request via their web page.

I have the same problem. My motherboard is h77 pro4/mvp and graphic card is Ati Radeon 7750 ultimate by Sapphire. Card works in PCI-e 2.0 and it is not recognized at all in PCI-e 3.0 slot. I also try all you sad in first post and nothing. My old (PCI-e 2.0) VGA card works in bout slots and new (PCI-e 3.0) onlu in slower 2.0 PCI-e slot. I have latest 1.4 bios, they didn`t solve this problem yet.

It may not be a BIOS issue. There are numerous threads here and elsewhere that seem to point to an issue with the video card and it's PCI3 compatibility. Some users have solved the issue with RMA'ing the video card. It seems to be quite a common issue with the Sapphire/AMD video cards.

Users have been able to get around the issue by setting the slot to "Gen 1" aka PCIe 1.1. However this will slow down your video obviously. (really only noticeable in intense 3D fps)

PCIe 3 is still fairly new, and manufacturers are still working out the kinks. Be patient and don't assume! :)

As an Aside, I would suggest you start a new thread with any issues, and refer back to an old thread(s). Adding to someone else's old thread is a good way to get your request ignored.
