Hi folks. Just finished my 3rd computer. AsRock P67 Extreme4 Gen.3 board ,I7-2700K processor, Turnig Tower Cooler,G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 mem.,Crucial 256 gb.SSD, and Corsair PS. I managed to overclock it to 4.8 but it didn't like it. I had left HT. on and it would run Prime 95 ok,but didn't want to boot into Windows. I had to back off to 4.7 and it does fine. I would just to see if I could get it higher. I left the Offset Voltage at .005v and set CPU PLL as high as Level 1 but backed off to Level 3 trying to run at 4.8. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you can, disable Virtualization on the CPU, if you are not using it, you don't need it, and it makes a difference on the load on the CPU, even when not used.

What is your Vcore up to when you are at 4.7 or 4.8? Depending on what it is at those levels, will tell you how much, if any, headroom you have left. You might be able to raise your offset, or find a way to run stable at 4.7 at a lower Vcore, which then might allow you to go above 4.7.

Have you increased the BCLK any at all? You can't raise is much at all without BSODs. You might need to keep it at 100MHz.

What are your CPU temps at idle at 4.7 and 4.8?

Max. CPU Temp running Prime95 was 72 on one core. Less on the others. What is Off set and what does it do?
