Default ASRock X58 Supercomputer - CPU upgrade

    Hello,
Can the X58 supercomputer (ASRock > X58 SuperComputer) motherboard support a Westmere-EP processor (Xeon E5640)? The supported CPUs does not list this item - however, it seems they use the same socket (LGA1366). So, it seems it should work, right?
    Thanks
    KG

Physically, yes it will fit, but the BIOS must support it too. You can't assume it will work, you should contact ASRock support.

Thanks - I updated the BIOS and upgraded the processor and things worked fine.
