This is a screenshot of 2 year old tech..
I know I should be hanging my head in shame:
However unlike when ive upgraded previously, there is no OMG..2 years is a long time in pc tech time lag.
If I bought anything new now Id be shooting myself in the foot.
Sure I could play around with E processors if I won the lotto, but sandy to ivy .and tick tock seems like a mild crock of something that doesnt contain gold.
I can understand why companies like ocz left the memory market and am also glad that gskill are still in it.
Id be wary of quad channel..especially since later experience of intel triple channel seemed to go for "well hey guys there isnt a lot of perf diff on our x58 dual or triple.:0
Having bought some 2133 capable memory recently,its a performance increase definitely.but a $60 increase.debateable.
Heres a ss of something thats been running while I type..it does seem 100% stable for any app I use.The ch is turned on so its comparatively warm in the room.
edit:just to explain on the memory cost.
I originally had 1333 mhz gskill cl9 stuff Jan 2011 cost was ~$90 approx
I just bought 1600 mhz gskill cl8 modules for ~$60 approx. Taking the view that my 1333mhz ztuff is valueless, if I want to keep it as backup,or might get $20 used, (its like $45 new).
In that sense I paid $60 for a small real performance increase ,less than the benchmark scores anyway, but the actual price difference between the 2 sets now is about $15-$20, for anyone buying new.
For me back in Jan 11 I didnt have the cash to spend over $100 on memory.

Ha!
If OCZ thought they could get a $60 premium on a pair of sticks they sure as he** would have stayed.
Now with their stock price heading for the Penny Market due to delaying earnings rpts and other misdeeds/follies they now find themselves in the unenviable position of needing to concentrate/consolidate towards surfing the coming $$$ wave on SSD's in the hopes of building back their financials.
That plus IIRC OCZ never had a long standing contract with any one chip supplier. Leaving them at a severe disadvantage purchasing wise in the already cut throat chip business.
It might be premature to say this, but I don't see much hope for 'em unless a delusional 3rd party steps in. And that pains me to say that as a longstanding OCZ purchaser of their products.
