problem with 3tb hdd only being recognised as 1.99tb

I just built my first htpc using an asrock fm2a75m-itx mobo and I'm having trouble getting windows to recognise my western digital 3tb caviar green

I've already installed the unlocker that came with it but still showing only 1.99tb.

Is there a step I'm missing?

Did you run the unlocker?

If you did and rebooted, and nothing changed, you may need to reformat that drive in Disk Management.

Yeah I rebooted after I did the unlocker. Problem is its my boot drive. Should I do a fresh install of the OS and format to got?

I meant GPT :P

The unlocker should let you avoid the need to format the disk to GPT, which can only be done on a raw disk, so a reinstall of Windows, as you know.

So you ran it and what happened? Did you check Disk Management to see if the previously unused space was now available? Do you need to extend the volume by yourself in Disk Management?

I ran it and nothing happened. Couldn't extend the volume and the extra space wasn't available.

Is it because it's my boot drive and I needed to install windows via uefi?
