You're still alive and able to boot the kickstand up???
I figured because of all theover this that by now she'd had you pushin' up thorny roses.
On a brighter note. It's good to hear you might have this sorted.
Well...My last issues were in part due to a bad HDD..Seems Vista hates a GPT partitioned drive..
So.. I installed Vista onto just a used spare 400 Gig HDD after clearing the CMOS and defaulting the Boot order in the BIOS...
That install was stable and fast and great..
My new HDD came in yesterday...Last night I installed Vista again...
Once again its buggy...After it reboots for an udate, or even from a cold start, It goes to a mostly black page, asking what Vista install to boot from ? Well..I only have one, yet it shows two???
It also shows three DVDRW's in the BIOS.. I have two only?
So.. I set the boot back to default, and again am installing Vista...
I so hope that that will give me a unbuggy install..
I am so over this freaking bios...
Its odd that I get one good install, and then another that struggles..WTF ??
Well... This second install seems to be stout so far.... My last one Vista would hang at shutdown, at times up to 3-4 minuets...
So...getting my first 105 Windows updates, and will see from there how its booting and starting... Fingers crossed...
Update:
Windows installed and runs great..
who would have thought that these settings appear to NOT stay set in the BIOS... It wouldn't even boot off my DVD drive until i selected F11 at startup and told it to.???
I'm calling Terminex ...

but all is sunny now thank Goodness...

Yup..its all sorted , and again, thanks for all your help teaching this legacy BIOS man the ropes
Been leaving the Vista install disk in the drive when Windows reboots for the first time after the installation? Not that they tell you to remove it, but it's sooo easy to do a double installation, which may have happened.
Plus the messages displayed are goofy, like "Press any button to start Windows", and if you do, it installs again. Windows 7 does that, Vista probably too.
IMO, Vista was not that bad, it just became cool to hate it, which is happening now with Windows 8.
"Hi, my name is Joe, and I'm a Windows 8 user". "Hi Joe..."
Well... I know just what you mean...but it will sort of do a shutdown about 3/4 of the way through... Pulling the disk then will cause it to stop installing, and beg for the disk...
I have one comp with Vista on it...Its not that bad beyond SP 1, whick caused all the trouble...Gotta give that to M$ for the usual to early release..
I never press that button when prompted after its reboot..I learned after about my third install NOT to do that... now with maybe 350 or more under my belt, i got it timed just right. lol but yea...Thanks
Hi Joe...My name is Mason and I leave Windows 8 to the phones and touchscreens it was developed for...
