Default THX TruStudio not finding compatible sound device on Z77 Extreme 4

It says something like "no compatible audio device found" (loose translation because my system is not in English). I installed the Realtek driver and it works, why doesn't the THX TruStudio find any compatible device?

This feature is heavily advertised on this board, and I want to try it, especially considering how crappy the realtek control panel is.

    Why doesn't it work?
    How do I fix this?
    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

By the way, I already searched the forums and I couldn't find a solution. Is there any way to troubleshoot this?

Are there any problems in windows Device Manager?
Were there any errors when you installed the THX TruStudio software?
Have you checked to see if there are any THX options in window's Sound or Control Panel.
Is there a THX TruStudio icon in the system tray?
What is your speaker setup? Brand? Model? Number of speakers?

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs portion of your

    1. Nope, I installed every device driver as soon as I got the mobo. It's not the first system I build.
    2. Nope, no errors.
3.Nothing in control panel, only in the system tray if I start it (its usually set to start at boot).
    4. It's in the system tray but like I said when I click it, it says no compatible device found.
    5. Normal stereo speakers connected to the rear green input.

By the way, I thought only the motherboard model was needed, because this is most likely a motherboard problem. I have a 3570k processor, 8Gb Ram, GTX560Ti 448 by Gigabyte, and of course, the Z77 Extreme 4 with 2.80 bios version. Installed realtek control panel says version 6.0.1.6699 and of course the chip is the ALC898. THX TRuStudio is latest version from the website, version 1.04.08.

I tried installing and reinstalling everything, from the CD, from the download page, and nothing, it doesn't ****ing work. It's advertised on the board and IT HAS TO WORK.

Does it work for anyone? Or is it just me?

I don't know if you need to buy the PRO version for it to work.
In Extreme7 Gen3 - THX TruStudio - No supported audio device available., post #3, the OP got it to work when it was downloaded from the ASRock web site. I think that back then (9-25-2011), there was a PRO version and a plain (OEM) version. In related threads, some reported that clicking on the TruStudio icon gave them a link to click on to buy the PRO version.

Contacting ASRock online Tech Support should give you a definite answer.

You did an excellent job filling out your PC Specs.
The only criticism is that it's best to include the part number of your memory so that we know which memory kit you have.

I checked the ASRock website for your motherboard and there is no mention to THX Studio support.
However, on page 7 in your motherboard user manual it says Supports THX TruStudioTM.
THX was not mentioned anywhere else in the user manual.

I couldn't find any THX drivers or software to download from ASRock for your motherboard.
Does your ASRock motherboard CD have any THX TruStudio drivers or software.

The THX and Creative (OEM) web pages don't appear to offer any downloads.

I found Download THX TruStudio Pro 3.5.0 Free - True studio audio experience - Softpedia freeware, but don't know if this will work with your system.

I suggest that you send a private message (PM) to ASRock TSD - Emily, include a link to this thread, and ask for her help.
Another option is to contact tech support online at ASRock > Support Request Form and provide details about the problem.

Let us know how you make out and if you find a solution for installing THX TruStudio and which version works.

Very interesting and curious about the THX TruStudio software, because it is no longer listed on my ASR board's download page. But I have had it installed and used it! Actually, I still have it installed on one of my ASRock Z77 boards, and I am sure I did not download it from anywhere else.

So it would seem that for some reason, it is no longer available for downloading via ASRock. I also tried running it just now, and I got the same error message that you did. I'm guessing that perhaps a UEFI/BIOS update has disabled its function on our boards. Yet another guess on my part would be that THX Studios wanted another royalty/use payment, which did not happen, or some kind of contract dispute, and so it no longer is available to us.

But I can tell you, you're not missing much. All it did was apply one automatic equalization/tone control setting that I assume is the "THX spec" for sound. It does not have an extensive or even simple control panel, certainly less than the ones provided by Creative in the past with older boards I've used. It is more of a come-on to try to get you to purchase the upgrade version, IMO.

My ASRock board has a download for the ASRock MAGIX Multimedia Suite, that includes an audio player, that I have not tried. Perhaps this is a replacement or alternative for THX TruStudio?

Regardless, and although THX TruStudio was no big deal at all, it is something that was offered as part of my and other ASRock mother boards, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
