    Default ASrock P67 Freezes with 8GB RAM - but is fine with 4GB RAM

    I have tried switching the two DIMMs to no avail.
    The system does bott and does run - but within a few minutes or sometimes even an hour later, it freezes completely and requires a cold boot.

    So I remove one of the two DIMMs to go back to 4GB and all is well again.
    I have the following memory:

    Crucial CML8GX3M2A1600C9, 4GB DIMM DDR3, PC3-10700U DDR3-1332

    Thanks;

    I'd say it's time to run MemTest86+(<-Link) on each stick individually.

    Guessing here, but I'm thinking you'll find one or heaven forbid both sticks gives errors while running MemTest86+.

    It's time consuming but let MemTest run for 4-5 passes one each stick. Preferably 7-9 passes.

    The thing is . . . it runs fine on "either" of the two DIMMs - I switched them and tried each for several days with no freezups using 4 GB.
    Which should mean they are both OK. It is only when I am using the full 8 GB (both at the same time) that my system freezes.
    The memtest does take forever but you are probably right that it is a good thing to check. I was hoping to find someone that had the same problem and found a solution.

    Each might run "fine' in single channel as single channel is more "forgiving' than dual channel.

    Run the test on each stick and I'm almost positive you'll find one throwing errors early on.
