z77 Extreme4 custom build problem - Dr. Debug flashing crazy

Hi, I just installed my z77 and plugged all the cables. No OS yet. I booted to test the mobo and all I got was multiple beeps. Dr. Debug flashes these numbers very quickly: 15, 36, 46, 49, 55, 4F. And the mobo reboots every 3 to 4 seconds. It repeats this until i shut it down.

My configuration consists of:
z77 Extreme4 - (the BIOS may be 1.8c - I got that from the cd that came with the board. Otherwise I don't know how to check.)
g.skill Sniper 2x4GB 1600 (from ASRock list of tested memory modules)
ASUS GeForce GTX 660
PSU 750

Please help.

Code 55 is Memory not installed. The multiple beeps (how many?) also may indicate a memory problem. Did you verify that the model number of your memory is listed in the compatibility list, not just "G.SKILL 1600"? What model is it?

Which slots is your memory in? With two DIMMs/sticks, slots A2 and B2 should be used.

There is no BIOS version "1.8c". The BIOS version that came with the board is shown on a sticker on the BIOS chip, which is near the SATA ports, to their left.

Your board is failing to POST, so you can't get into the BIOS. It's also possible the memory is bad, but checking for the exact model number of your memory in that list is important.

I think 3 beeps on the 55. and yes I did verify the mem model number. I copied and pasted the model number to find it in newegg.com. I tried both sticks in A1 and B1, then I tried A2 and B2, then I tried one stick in A1 and Dr. Debug stopped on number A6, then I tried the other and received a 55 again. I did this with everything connected and with everything disconnected except the RAM, vid card, and PSU (not even a keyboard).

This is my first custom build.

THe only sticker I see near the SATA ports is the SPI Flash Memory. Is that the same as BIOS? it reads: z77 EXTREME4 P2.50-15A

What do you suggest I do? Should I return it/exchange it? Should I think of getting a different board?

Try this.

With only one stick in the B2 slot, pull(do not leave in/on MB) your GTX 660 and instead connect the monitor up to the proper display connection provided on the rear I/O of the MB. What happens when you attempt to boot with it this way? If nothing, try clearing the cmos and retry.

Code 55, and three beeps is no memory. Do you have the four or eight pin CPU power cable connected to the board, as well as the main 24 pin power cable? The memory controller is in the CPU, and if it does not get enough power, it may appear as if no memory is installed.

You don't know if the board is bad yet, or if your memory is working, it could be bad. Replacing the board won't fix that. Can you try some other memory?

The Dr Debug codes are simply POST codes for each step of the POST process. They should flash by quickly on the display, that's normal. If a POST function or test fails, the code for that operation is displayed, meaning POST could not proceed due to this failure.
