Default New BIOS for ASRock 990 Extreme4 adressing FX-8150 CPU compatibility?

    Hi Guys,

The moment I upgraded my MB with a FX-8150 CPU and Windows 8 64-bit I knew I would expect some compatibility issues. They where so new... Before Win 8 was my Windows Experience Index one of the highest but the moment Win 8 started it was quite a downgrading...

I noticed that MB ASRock 970 Extreme4 got an BIOS upgrade at the end of January where the Fx-8150 CPU compatibility would be improved.

Can we, users of the ASRock 990 Extreme4, expect such an improvement? Anyone knowing the answer?

    Greetings,

If you were to look at the CPU Support List for the 990FX Extreme4 you'll notice the FX-8150 has been supported since BIOS P1.30 .

    ASRock > 990FX Extreme4 > CPU Support List
    Code:
    AM3+	FX	FD8150FRW8KGU(BE)	125W	Bulldozer	3600MHz	2200MHz	2MB x4	8MB	B2	P1.30
The latest non-BETA release BIOS for the 900FX Extreme4 is now at P2.00

Reference my sig below and you'll notice this exact combo you're asking of. It works fine. EDIT See next post as to why I struck-out the following. The "fixes' you're mentioning of the FX-8150/970 Extreme4 have nothing whatsoever to do with any shortcomings of the FX-8150/990FX Extreme4 pairing.

    I worded that wrong.

The shortcomings of the FX-8150/970 Extreme4 and the fixes you mention are unrelated and have absolutely nothing to with the FX-8150/990FX Extreme4.
