990fx extreme4 ps/2 keyboard not found.

just got this fine piece of tecnology, everything runs fully optimal and smooth
but for some reason the ps/2 port´s seems to be disabled i get a lit in caps/numlock on power on.
so take it that port´s are not broken, just disabled somewhere.. (i feel like) i have looked everywhere in Uefi for a ps/2 or legacy option (enable/disable) i have tried to search for new hardware in windows.

so question : what did i overlook? how do i enable Ps/2 ports?

Is your keyboard connected to the purple PS/2 port? It's #18 in page 13 in your mobo user manual.

Can you borrow another PS/2 keyboard to test with?
Can you test your PS/2 keyboard on another system?
There might be an incompatibility between your keyboard and motherboard.

yes its in the purple port ofc and yes have tried another ps/2 keyboard and that dosent work either on this system, and yes i have tested both keyboards they work fine on my old system .
and for incompatibility, its a Hewlett packard keyboard from the mid 90'ish (the mechanical HP weights like a ... and have no cursed windows key)i never had problems on any system using it always worked and still does.. just not here
and ps/2 keyboards are´nt they analog out put (as far as i know)so incompatibility should not be an issue or what?

I've never heard of PS/2 keyboard incompatibility but it's possible that HP is different.
I'm using PS/2 keyboards with both of my systems. One keyboard is from Gateway and one is a Logitech model.
I don't know where your live, but I bought each of my keyboards from a local thrift store for $2 - $3.

erhmm are you telling me to buy a 3rd ps/2 keyboard ? and chuck in the same port and expect it to give any other result than the 2 ps/2 keyboards i already tried?? sorry English aint my native language so i might have understanded you wrong? coz i really doubt that it will work any kind of miracle, i know of the saying "third time is a charm" but.... ;-)
and yes i have tried adding a usb to ps/2 converter to my usb keyboard, dosent work on the ps/2 port either.

It sounds like your PS/2 keyboard port is dead because of your results with 2 different keyboards on two different systems.
Page 62 in the user manual has a PS/2 power on option:

PS/2 Keyboard Power On
Use this item to enable or disable PS/2 keyboard to turn on the system from the power-soft-off mode.

You've got nothing to loose by changing this setting to see if it helps.

The only other options that might help would be to flash using a different bios version or searching the web for a "better" keyboard driver.
A last report is to request online tech support at ASRock > Support Request Form

Are both KB's bone stock PS/2's, not ones with any of the extra "hot' buttons for audio, browsers, email, etc etc ...?

dont even have a windows key or any other shortcut keys (one of the main reasons why im sorta obsessed with getting to work and of course the fact that its unbreakable from "normal" gamming abuse)

but cheers for the replies, and sure if i find a solution i will post back. But have tried the enable PS/2 Keyboard Power On with no luck .. only thing i havent tried is flash bios/update Bios...guess thats among one of the thing i ca/will try next
