Default Start with psu-button only? alivedual esata2

I could only start my used asrock alivedual esata2 with psu-switch and not with external power-button. With the latter i could only restart and also not shut down. is this normal? do i have the wrong psus. both around 500w. did cmos-clear and removed battery.
see my other thread about esata2-driver. Thanks a lot

Check your pc case power button and correctness of its connection to motherboard.

Connect RESET front panel cable to PWR pins and try to on/off PC with reset button.
OR you can start you PC by QUICKLY shorting front panel PWR pins on motherboard (CHECK YOU MANUAL AND DESCRIPTION ON motherboard BEFORE DO THIS)

-> your problem is front panel button.

My two DIY-cables are working on a second PC. I will clean the contacts.
will use fiberglas-cleaning stick and alcohol(isopropylalcohol)- how about acetone?
they are working but not the way they should.
If its still not working i will make a new one.
    Maybe psu not strong enough?

It looks like your LC500H-12 psu is an older model LC500H-12 V2.2: LC - POWER that is rated at 15 amps for each 12 volt rail. I'm bothered by the "Power rating 500W max. / peak". For comparison, the original Antec EA-500 psu is rated for 22 amps for each of its 12 volt rails. Can you borrow a newer/better psu to test with?

It sounds like your front panel power switch is stuck in the ON position, otherwise your system should not start when you use the psu on/off switch on the back of the case and it makes sense that you can't turn your system off with an always on front power switch. Every front panel power and reset switch that I've seen is a momentary ON switch when the switch is pressed.

As mentioned above, make sure that your front panel power and reset switches are working and that they are properly connected to the motherboard pins.

What Prof Jim said is my vote too. The switch is shorted, or the wiring is.

Cleaning the contacts will make no difference, unless they are so corroded no contact is possible.

The PSU not being "strong enough" is not related to it not starting with the power switch on the case.

This is the type of momentary ON Power and RESET switches that you need to use:

Each circuit is very low voltage and you should be able to buy inexpensive switches at an electronics store, such as Radio Shack in the USA.

    Found it immediately afterwards:
Was set to reset! drawing is tiny.
Sorry i could not reply quicker due to slow internet and blocked pc. had to go.

I am always using used pc-switches since i have all my pcs outside the case totally "naked" for good access. Thats why i have learned about the luck of esata relatively late. see other thread about driver and esata.
Thanks a lot for all your help.

Default cmos-data are gone when power was switched off

I still have some open questions:

    1. under certain conditions cmos/bios-data are gone.
There is still a strange behaviour when starting.

    a) when psu-switch is off and switched on again pc is starting. Until now on my other pcs i had to press the external button. Always in this case-even when power cable is staying in place-cmos/bios-data are gone.
I thought i had replaced the battery when i got this used MB. Will now get a new one and check.
If data is still eraded then i must possibly replace one or multiple capacitors right? which ones? there are two near the battery.

I have now set to start pc with keyboard.

Have you tried quickly shorting power pins to start your mobo?
Because of your description is not clear for me: buttons work properly or not?!

Disable all Power On under ACPI Configuration menu.
"Restore on power loss" and "power on function". According to ASRock > ALiveDual-eSATA2 they named as
"Restore on AC/Power Loss" -> Power Off
    "Ring-In Power On" -> Disable

Nothing set in cmos/bios power-button is working with one exception.
btw: i have only set the keyboard to power on later. has nothing to do with the two problems.

    a) when psu-switch is set off after shutdown with button i am losing bios/cmos-data. will get a new battery today.

    b) if i leave psw-switch on everything is ok.

    c) when battery is exchanged i will refresh my latest firmware 1.90, but:
it seems i couldnt prepare my usb-stick with boot-to-disk. There seems only an usb-stick-solution around.
    thanks
