I7 950 4ghz Overclocking help for Asus P6X58D Premium

Hey everyone, recently I swap my old I7 920 setup for a 950 setup and wanted some help getting some bios settings to overclock the 950 to 4ghz, if not more.

The new setup is:
Motherboard: Asus P6X58D Premium
Memory: Corsair Dominator 12GB CM3X2G1600C8D
CPU/Processor: I7 950
CPU Cooler: Corsair H50 Liquid Cooling
Power Supply: Antec 1000w(TruePower is what I believe the model was)

how much cpu voltage is being used in the bios? or in asus turbo v program? n ill help you try for 4ghz-4.2ghz with cpu offset

I'm using AIDA64 and its telling me in the bios settings the cpu voltage is 1.22500 V. Thank you wazza300 very much for helping.

ok you can try 21x200 bclk which is 4.2ghz,disable intel turbo boost so the multi doesnt use 23x
you can set memory to 8x which will be 1600mhz and 8-8-8-24 timings
set cpu voltage to offset and use +0.07500v which will get added at load to the stock 1.22500v which is 1.3v at load(might need more)
qpi/vtt can be same as it is atm which is 1.4v which is about right for 12gb of ram

if its not stable you could try +0.10000v which will add 1v to 1.22500v making it 1.32250v at load,keep an eye on coretemps with realtemp and try to stay below 80c,odd spikes to 82-84c are fine

the 12gb of memory might be the limiting factor though,its far easier to reach 4ghz+ with 6gb

EDIT: you can always use 21x191 bclk for 4ghz keep voltages the same

I follow your steps for both te 4.2 and 4ghz and have experience a blank screen when exiting bios that doesn't go away till I power off using the power button. I got a few bsod as the computer is booting up(states it's 4.2) and finnslly got to the screen where the window logo flys in . As the logo flys in halfway they freeze ad the computer restarts going through the same progress. I reset my motherboard to return its default setting but sadly I still experience the constant restarting.

is it still restarting? did you leave the motherboard battery out for 30 minutes and then try? the problem is having 12gb of ram,you might need a huge amount of cpu and cpu-vtt voltage,could try for 3.8ghz if you want?

I didn't think about leaving the battery out for 30min and I came up with the conclusion the constant bsod probably corrupted my os so I reformatted everything(got over my lost after an hour). I'm cool with any advice wazza300, I understand overclocking is a time consuming and stressful process. Do you think I should try the asus turbo-v software?

i would try with a lower overclock,its difficult with 12gb of memory,and the last thing i wanted to do was cause you any unnecessary hassle,when it blue screens like that it can corrupt the cmos,you can try turbo v if you want although manual bios overclock is the best

if it does blue screen you want to look for the error codes it will be alot of zero's followed by 124 which is not enought cpu/vtt(memory controller) voltage and 101 is not enough cpu voltage
