Default Several questions about PCIe slots configuration on Asus Maximus V Gene and P8Z77-V

    Asus Maximus V Gene
    If i install a graphics card(PCIe x16) in red PCIex16 slot, Gigabit Lan(PCIe x1) in 2nd red PCIex16 and Sound Card(PCIe x1) in black PCIex4 slot.
    Do i get x8+x1+x1?

    ASUS P8Z77-V
    Graphics card(PCIe x16) in blue PCIe x16 slot, Gigabit Lan(PCIe x1) in white PCIe x16 and in black Sound card(PCIe x1) --> x8+x1+x1?
    if i replace Gigabit Lan(PCIe x1) with PCI --> x16+x0+x1 + PCI?

Is there any game freezes if you using GPU(PCIex16) and PCIex1-x4 cards in x16 slot?

they will all run in a 16x slot but at the speeds they are designed to run at ie,1x for the lan and 1x for the sound card, they will work in any 16x slot

no you shouldnt get any issues regarding freezes ect

I know about it, i was asking about other thing:
2 x PCIe x16 work as x8+x8 when 2 x video card (SLI/Cross) installed, thats why i asking about: how installing x1 card to x16 slot will affect system resource and PCIe x16 slot.

The problem is that on the other board, I have this problem.

    Is someone tested this?

When inserting sound/lan card PCIe card to second PCIex16, do i get shared x16:
    on P8Z77-V: x8+x8
    on V Gene: x8+x8 or x16+x8 ?

and as result they will work like i sad in first post:
    on P8Z77-V: x8+x1+x1
    on V Gene: x8+x1+x1 or x16+x1+x1

    Could someone explain this manual?
First is P8Z77-V, second from V Gene.

The shared IRQ assignment charts have nothing to do with the pci-e speeds.
Shared IRQs are not a problem unless there are IRQ conflicts.

GPU-z will display the bus interface and bandwidth for video cards.

    Thank you for info.

    2500k + V Gene + Sound card (GTX680 in Asus Maximus V Gene only running PCI-E 2.0 @ x4 - techPowerUp! Forums ) work even wost than i expected...
If x8 2.0 was enough for almost any budget and mainstream card, x4 2.0 can drop performance...

Did you run GPU-z to confirm the reported bandwidth interface for your video card?
    With all 3 pci-e slots populated, I would expect that you would have x8 + x1 +x1.
With your pci-e sound and lan cards removed, see what GPU-z reports with your video card in each of the red pci-e slots.
Are you running the most recent bios in your Asus Maximus V Gene?
Can you test with a different video card?

Check the specifications in your motherboard user manual for special notes when using two or more of the pci-e slots.
A web search using: z77 plx chip n200 will explain how some motherboards can have more than 16 pci-e lanes.
AnandTech - Four Multi-GPU Z77 Boards from $280-$350 - PLX PEX 8747 featuring Gigabyte, ASRock, ECS and EVGA

You can run msinfo32 to check on conflicts/sharing and IRQ assignments.

I am using different mobo and lan card right now(@PC Specs) and want to change it to V Gene or P8Z77-V.

P8Z77-V should work like my x16(by gpu-z)+x0(its empty)+x1(PCIEx4 in x16 form)+PCI lan, hope w/o freezes (lan card was removed to test)
V Gene cost similar to it and require +10$ to replace PCI with new PCIe lan card, but it's definitely worth it!

It's not clear which board your having problems with the video card's bus interface speed.
If you post a screen-shot similar to the one in post #5 there will be no confusion.
I expect that all three motherboards should run at x8 for your video card with other cards installed unless one of your boards uses a PLX chip setup.

I was interested what I get with this configuration( video card + 2 x PCIe x1 cards) on Asus Maximus V Gene or P8Z77-V ( See Post #1 Several questions about PCIe slots configuration on Asus Maximus V Gene and P8Z77-V )
because I want to buy one of them due to the OTHER problems with my current mobo (Z77X-D3H).

But there seems no one is using expansion cards and can't give correct answer :(
