modding a ps2 controller

my friend is madly good at n64 games but got a playstation 2 and hes really bad with the ps2 controller

so what i want to do is take an n64 controller shell and put the ps2 controller parts in it i know the shell will have to have some holes drilled but is it possible

also how can i take the rumble out of the controller with out ruining the controller because he doesnt want it and it will save space not putting it in

Only half the solution you want.
When you open the controller you will notice two motors connected to half moon type weights. removing these will remove the rumble.
You can
a) remove the weights and leave motor, it will spin, but is balanced, therefore, no rumble.
b) just remove the motors and wires completely, which will also make the conversion easier too.
