needs help with modding

I have a ps2 (the fat version) and would like to be able to put a hard drive on the system and download games and movies from the net and be bale to play them from the hard drive. i need some help with this. I do not have a mod chip yet so if anyone can explain how to do this and what kind of mod chip i need and basically all the information and steps.
