It continues to be better to keep the proc under 50 C if possible.
Now my temp is idle at 45 and playing Quake at 51 max. Should I be worried. Nevertheless, I'm buying the Volcano 7 soon. Just don't want to fry the processor before I have a chance to buy it. I'm using Arctic Silver 3.

PC Health in BIOS is showing a temp 4 degrees lower than the thermometer. Which should I believe?Originally Posted by drpeterbright
The MB temp is registered from a thermister generally located underneath the motherboard and can read low. Always err on the side of safety.
Not all of the motherboard manufacturers carefully calibrate the thermistors readings. The readings are affected by their location too. Usually they are accurate to within +/- 1 deg, which is good enough in most cases. Check and see if your thermometer is calibrated.
