Default Cooling fan test?

Hi,
I'm new to the forum, I wanted to know if there is a way to test a cooling fan in a running lap top. My wifes dv 1000 pavillion just came back from hp and it seems like the fan never comes on. Previously it was loud and annoying. I'm wondering if they forgot to plug it in, thats why I'm trying to find a way to test it.
Thanks,
Mark

Just load up the CPU. Run Orthos or Prime95 for a short time, that will ramp up the clock speeds and load temps and it should kick all the fans on. Just be mindful of the temps.
