Default how to determine case size for hdts1283 hsf

i was looking at a new build
mobo ga ep45 du3p gigabyte
q6600 cpu
kingston hyperx 1066mhz 4g
radeon 4870
and i was looking to get the xigmatek hdt s1283 hsf but i hear it is huge. so i was wondering what was the best way to figure out what size case i should get to house all this and have clearance due to the size of the hdt?
thank you

I have pretty much the same hardware you are looking at and it fits nicely in my Cooler Master 690. There is about 1/4" clearance from the tip of the copper pipes to the side of the case.
I Pulled the side off and it measures 7 1/4" from the mb tray to the side of the case. Hope this helps.

Mine is in an Antec 300 mid-tower case. The 300 stays cool (it should, there's room for 5 case fans!) and is cheap at $45 at Micro Center.

Your case needs to 8" wide to be safe.
