I just got a digital thermometer with 2 flat head sensors can u plz tell me how to place them to get good CPU temps and wheres the best place to monitor case temps does it matter?

yeah im using logical reasoning because ive never put in a thermometer. so it would be best to put the sensor(s) on or near cpu or on the inside top of the case or somewhere on mobo.... yeah

err... that wasnt that helpful... sorry
is it ok to put it between the CPU and the heatsink? that would stop heat transfer tho...

i think you can place the sensor on the CPU next to the die (im assuming your using an AMD processor) and you will get an accurate temperature readout without stopping heat transfer
for case temp i read some where that the sensor should be placed 2 inches (or centimeters i cant remember) above the centre CPU fan, so you could just stick it to the side panel opposite the cpu

im using a p4 1.7 wit stock cooling and i just placed the thermometer right next to the cpu so its not between the HSF and Cpu but damn close.
current temp reading as i write this is 47.3 for cpu and 37.6 case the air temp is 29 i have same A3 lying around and fans should bre arriving soon, ill let you know if the temps drop. i damn well hope so :cry:

i thnk with the p4 you can put the sensor on the heatspreader on the cpu to get a more accurate reading as you want the sensor as close to the cpu core as possible
im not sure tho cos i dont have any experience with the p4

I got 3 sensors, one placed on the HDDs, one on the PSU and one on CPU, for the CPU I just placed it onto the heatspreader, and it hasn't effected my temperatures.
