pauses in game when fan kicks in

Hi, i just bought a Geforce FX 5700 ultra and while playing games (specifically C&C Generals) it seems everytime the card gets hot and the fan kicks in the game will pause and the sound will stutter. This happens over and over again as the card cools down and heats up and its getting pretty annoying. What is causing this? Is there anyway to remedy it? I was wondering if it was due to not having a large enough power supply, mines only 250 watts. Thanks for your help

I can't say for certain without knowing your specs, but with a 250W PSU I'm betting you need more power.

A quality 400+W PSU should fix that.
