Hi, I recently built up a new computer for my sister from scratch. I know quite a bit about computers and computer parts but i didn't really know much about cpu fans untill now. When i bought the motherboard it came with a crappy cpu fan. WBK68-II is the cpu fan i got if anyone is interested. The computer is overheating badly, it locks up now and then and it reboots most of the time. It sits idle at about 55 Degrees, then gets much higher when gaming. It gets to about 68 before rebooting.
I'm going out this week to buy a new fan but i have no idea what i am looking at or what is any good. So can someone please recommend me some good cpu fans. Doesn't have to be quiet but that would be nice. The computer will be used quite frequently so it has too be pretty good. I'm looking at spending around $50 AUD but if it cost a little more i'll live :P.
System specs -
Asus A7V333 Motherboard
Althlon XP 1800+
512mb DDR RAM

Thanks in advanced.

The Thermaltake Volcano 7+ is a good one and around $55aus but how good is your case ventilation as the best HSF in the world ain't goin' to perform well if the case doesn't breathe. :smokin:

Cheers, looks pretty good. The air flow in the case is fine, the motherboard temperatures are fine. We even opened the case up to try and cool down the cpu. Didn't work. You wouldn't happen to know any shops nearby or not too far that sell that cpu fan? Yes i live in toony too. Should i just wait till sunday and check out the north rocks market?

i'm surprised that the wbk38 won;t eve handle a CPU at STOCK speed and with good VENTILATION....it sounds mor elike a problem with the installing of the HSF....i'm guessin ur using a themal pad or that crap that comes preinstalled on heatsinks?

btw the reaosn i bring this up is that i use to have a wbk38,,,with crap case ventilation....yet it could still handle an xp2000 running at stock speed ok...even in summer...and teh fact that we both live in sydney means were getting similar ambient temps
