I installed a cheap soundblaster card in my computer and my temps went from 38C to 48C.

I installed it because of the AC97 chip that buzzes sometimes.

After I took the card out, the temps went back down in the 30's again.

Any ideas what's going on?

Jim

Nope. Wasn't blocking airflow. Even put the board in the slot as far away from the video card as possible. Really wierd.

Seemed like the card was causing my CPU usage to rise for some reason.

Anyway, the thing is out now and the puter is back to running cool again.
