cd /r not readable? help

can someone plz help me i have a cd writter and i think it works fine, it can open and close fine but there is no cd writter drive on my computer where is it??

Have you checked the control panel to see if there are any issues noted there? Have you ensured the IDE ribbon cable (or round cable if you use that type) is properly connected at both ends? Have you tried the CD drive in another box to make sure it can be read properly?

There are any number of possible causes, so do some basic troubleshooting then go from there.

thxs for tht darth it seems tht there was no problem after a fews days it appeared again?? but thanks for ur help anyway :)
