lg r400 always asking for drivers

my lgr400 came pre-loaded with vista home basic. my problem is, it is always asking for a driver everytime i plug any device or accessory, like printer, numeric pad, keyboard, mouse, flash disk, even usb hub. when i tell the computer to search for the driver, it is not available in the system. very frustrating because when i tried these devices on the notebook of my friend (also with vista home basic), they work perfectly, automatically loading the drivers. pls help. is it my notebook, or is it the operating system? thank you very much, guys.
