I'm using the 40.72 detonator presently. Would I see any performance increase in my 3dmark2001se score if I downloaded the beta driver in which you refer to?

Would I need to uninstall my 40.72 before I install the 42.01? Or, just install the 42.01 "on top" of my 40.72?

I generally didn't uninstall nVidia drivers when I updated. nVidia has been very good about leaving file names and such the same between revisions, so I never had any problems with just installing the newer ones on top of the existing version.
