Problems with Direct3D

[Doomed Fated]

Hi everbody! I have problems when I try to play games on my computer. I tested World of Warcraft, Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Far Cry and Call of Duty 1 (with United Offensive). I have the newest NVidia drivers (81.95), the lastest VIA chipset drivers and patched all the games mentioned above.

For some reason, the only game which works is Call of Duty 1. As you may already know, this is an OpenGL game. The rest either show a black screen (with the sound still playing) or have some buttons missing in the menu.

If anyone could help me with this, I would be very grateful because this is getting very frustrating...

Athlon64 3000+ (1.8 gHz)
2 x 512 MB Kingston (PC3200)
ASUS A8V Deluxe
BFG GeForce 6600 GT 128MB

What version of Direct X do you have? Also, I think there might be an option to run FarCry in OpenGL (with a huge performance drop). Look at the advanced tweaking section of the FarCry guide on www.tweakguides.com.

I've found my problem. It was the VIA drivers that was causing the problem so uninstalled them and installed the the previous ones.
