Have you installed all drivers? The bus drivers are usually installed with the motherboard/chipset drivers.

I guess I haven't. The computer is working, but I have the ?! by the serial bus controller.
HP's site only has the driver pack for Vista. I actually don't know what drivers to install, as I have been looking for them for about a week. I'm not all that bright. I don't know where to find them. Last edited by JERKSTORE; 02-14-2009 at 11:38 PM. |

Looks like your MSI board was built specific to HP and as you say there is no support for XP .... you may have a problem. Try here: MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD. and see if the board is recognized by the automated system ... if not maybe try the manual method and see if any of the listed board drivers with 780 chipset will install and work correctly. You may also be able to find something directly from AMD (who is the company that made the chipset itself) although I just had a quick look and no luck.

PrairieDawg was right on. I am having a similar issue attempting to install sever 2008 on an HP a6750f. During the install the setup program cannot see any drives and provides an error...
A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash Drive, please insert it now. Note: If the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD Drive, you can safely remove it for this step." To get around this go to the link in PrairieDawgs post and select your mainboard which is a AMD Platform/Socket AM2+/AMD/AMD 780/K9A2VM-FIH from there select the driver tab and then download the ATI SB700 RAID Driver for Vista x64. Place it on a USB and direct the setup program to look for the driver in the folder you saved it to. Also for Jerkstores issue they have a utility called AMDAway on the download page that should take care of the yellow bang. Thanks PDawg! |

The automatic msi didn't work for me. I did manage to use live update3 on their site. that got rid of the smbus error. Now the only problem I have is that my computer won't recognize my printer or iphone. (no plug and play devices). It will recognize external hard drives though. on Vista everything works fine...I am having the problems on XP Pro.

Your printer problem is probably driver related as well. Have you installed the correct drivers for it? I have no experience with iphone but guessing there may be an XP driver for it as well. Just because Vista recognizes something "out of the box" does not mean XP will.

Ya..I downloaded the exact setup file from lexmark. It is one that you plug your printer in and the exe file installs the printer. Didn't work.
I then tried to manually install the drivers from file. Didn't work. |
