Default Need Help Overclocking Gigabyte GA-EX58-UDR3

Hello,

I am new to the site and new to overclocking and need some help. 1st of all, since I am completely new to overclocking should I not even bother or is it fairly simple with some direction?

I am fairly computer savvy so I am not a complete computer noob.

Here are my specs:

Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UDR3 (Rev 1)
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24

Any help would be appreciated. Also since I do not have an aftermarket CPU cooler yet what do you think would be to high to shoot for? To be honest I would even be happy running at 3.0GHz but if you think that would be a bad idea with an aftermarket cooler I will wait till I buy one.

Also on a side note, in my bios it says my Memory Frequency SPD is 1066MHz even though I am using 1333MHz? I am not sure if that even matters but it seems to me like that isnt right or I don't know what exactly I am reading. I did clear the CMOS battery per the instructions in the BIOS when it reads the wrong frequency and it still stayed at 1066MHz. Any thoughts on this as well?

Please help me!
