Default Overclocking core I7/X58 voltage question

Hi,

first my system specs nice and simple

Intel Core i 7 920 @ 3.33 Ghz
Gigabyte UD4P X58 chipset
Kingston HyperX 6GB DDR-3 2000Mhz

well my problem is that my computer has been unstable ever since i installed the 6GB of kingston hyperX, i seem to have gotten it stable now but i wanted to ask if anybody could help me in tweaking the voltages.

currently they are

1.25V Vcore
1.595V QPI/VTT
1.22 IOH Core
1.68 Dram Voltage

now the 2 that bother me is the QPI/VTT core and the RAM voltage.

the IOH core is 1 voltage setting away from flashing red (which cant be good)

the ram voltage can go further but when the i7's came out i read that the maximum voltage for the memory was 1.65v, however when i set it to 1.65V my memory seems to be unstable but at 1.68v it's fine... at this time... prime 95 has been stressing it for 10 min so i guess it's more stable then it was at 1.65(not that suprising though).

but what are the are the actual maximum voltages that u shouln't get to close to? (gone try lowering the QPI/VTT now)

but what is the maximum Dram voltage u can (but shouln't) go to just so i know what never to try.

-anubis

edit : lowering the qpi/vtt was an epic fail, after lowering it 0.02 volt ( 1 step) i couldn't get through 20 seconds of prime 95

Is your RAM running at its full rated speed of 2000mhz? i would downclock those guys- really aint worth it putting 1.68v through the ram and almost 1.6v QPI. When i run my OCZ 1333's @ 1750, it requires 1.64vdimm and 1.46qpi.

Im guessing your using a 167blck and a 12x mem multi. Have you tried downclocking the RAM? I would definitely do so. I would not put my system at risk for some speed you may not even notice besides while benching.

I personally would not go over 1.66v, but have seen higher. QPI should be ok to a certain degree as long as it is within .5v from the vdimm.

I know you payed big money for that RAM, but it may be in your best interest to not run it at full speed. For example, use a 180 blck X 10 mem multi to give you 1800mhz RAM. See how that works out. Good luck

yes i've currently got them running at the rated 2000Mhz and it seems to be rock solid now so im gone keep this setup for now... still pretty unconfortable to be over the safe amount of vram...

but i was originally gone go for some ocz blade CL9 (not CL7 of course that's insanely expensive) but no retailers around here sell it... this is the 2nd kit i've had from kingston and im condemning the whole of Holland to hell for not having any retailers that sell ocz blade cl9.

have had corsair (pc-133), OCZ (ddr-2 800 gold, platnum, reaper, reaper-X) and now kingston DDR-3 1600/2000 hyperX) but so far OCZ has been the best : /

next time im sure to buy OCZ again.
