I have my Q8200 running at a MILD OC at about 2.8Ghz. I just changed the FSB to what I needed and kept the RAM AT OR BELOW the 1066 (my RAM speed, your's may be different) and keep an eye on the CL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS (ie 5:5:5:15) and you should have no problem getting your Q8200 running at a higher frequency.
The Q8200 is better than some people say. Mine has been great!

I had mine running at 2.8, but decided to go down a bit to 2.63 cause of some issues with Empires Total War, but turns out I'm not the only one that has issues with that game.
I am satisfied with an OC to 2.8, so i don't see why it would be such a bad CPU, plus with my V8 heatsink and decent thermal compound, I really can't complain. What exactly are those CAS or latency, 5:5:5:15 thingy? I never understood exactly what that meant.... |
