9500gt problem?

Hoping someone here can help.

About a month ago, I purchased this new graphics card and 2 new Acer monitors. I'm running XP.

When I'm in another window or application and go back to my desktop and try to marquee a group of icons, the marquee box that I create to select multiple icons stays on the desktop until I refresh via F5 or move another window overtop of it to refresh it. If I click on the desktop first and then try to marquee around the icons, it works fine.
