Default Klipsch Promedia 2.1 or Logitech Z-2300

Ok my Philips 2.1 speakers just took a heaping pile on me. Kinda pissed cuz i loved how they sounded for $40. I bought another set to hold me over...

now im looking at either the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 or the Logitech Z-2300. I see that Cnet gave the Z-2300's much better reviews, both are THX certified, both i can get for around $100, both sets are refurbished with a 90 day warranty.

No 5.1 setups- my desk just wont work with em.

I use alot of logitech hardware so am really leaning towards that way... Anybody who uses either of these speaker systems please throw me a suggestion. Thanks!

Well I used to use the Klipsch's a while ago and they were something, but now I currently have the 2300's when the Promedia's took a turn for the worse.

Overall, I can't say that either one was clearly superior to the other, they both are great, both have great base, it depends on your sound board too. Speakers only playback what they're given. Use a crap sound processor on quality speakers is a waste.

But if you already got another set of the Philips' and you like the way they sound, well to coin the old saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Not toally accurate here but it can be implemented metaphorically. Basically if you like the Philips' sound then just stick to them but if you really want a better set, I love my 2300's if that helps so I recommend them but neither will disappoint you.

It also depends on your sound card, what do you run?

If you just do games they'll practically be the same if you prefer more FLAC, WAV or PCM audio and have a quality sound board for that I think the Klipsch did that better but I haven't had mine in about 2 years so I can't be totally positive but the logitech's rock so no complaints, again you'll be happy either way.

Thanks for the reply. I would have stuck with the Philips set , but they just quit on me out of nowhere. No particular times of pushing them hard either and only a few months old. Bought another set of Philips to hold me over until i decided on what to do, decided on the Klipsche and must say, i love these guys. The satellites are HUGE! They dwarf the philips to death.

Even with the on-board realtek ALC888 audio they sound awesome, but did purchase an ASUS Xonar DX which i got a steal on. Hopefully , that guy comes in tonite and we can see the improvement.

Yeah, they make amazing stuff especially if you aren't shy with money and can get a hold of some of the audiophile and/or studio grade monitors, or home theater systems.

I love Boston Acoustics, I have a soon to arrive new surround system with a Denon Receiver and Boston Acoustics speakers, 5.1 as of now as 7.1 adds some richness but not that much from 5.1, not as drastic as stereo to 5.1 when that first came into the scene.

And even most blu-rays are 5.1, very few if any are actually split/recorded to a 7.1 signal so... for now it seems it's mostly matrixing is what you'll get with 7.1 but I'm sure they'll start to record to 7.1 soon, though I don't think it's really that necessary, if you've ever listened to PCM in 5.1 it's beyond anything, even the TrueHD and DTS Master Audio tracks, not that those are anything to sneeze at lol.

Hey bro! Just popped the DX in and wow ! Was thinking meh, until i hit the DSP mode button and Geez this thing sounds sweeeeet! Installation of the card and drivers was unbelievably easy. Didn't have to change anything , just installed the drivers and thats that.

Glad to hear all went well, though with sound card installation there's not much too it lol.

Happy, gaming, listening to music/watching movies/blu-ray etc etc.. whatever you'll use them for.

Now what to do when my Boston's/Denon is all hooked up, I guess I can give my logitechs to my sister, when I visited and heard the speakers she had I wanted to cry, not out of how good they were oops lol.
