Default Working HD4870 with an artifacting one

Hey, im thinking of purchasing a second hand HD4870 which the seller claims has artifacts.

Would it be fine to run the artifacting card as a secondary card to the working card in crossfire mode??

So Ill plug my monitor into the new HD4870 which has no artifacts and disable the artifacting card from outputting things to a monitor.

Not likely, but ya never know. I think your thoughts may work, but maybe not as the artifacted data would still be passed along to the other GPU

I would bake the card myself first to see if you can fix it! If it isn't really cheap I would actually just pass it up myself, you already know it is broke so don't spend too much.
