It sounds like the HughesNet isn't the worst thing in the world, but it definitly has some quirks.
I don't mind the idea of getting by with dial up right now, but currently I can't even surf two sites at once! That seems slower than what even dial-up should be!

I'm not sure if the quality of telacommunication equipment in my area is below par, but it has to be somthing...

How do I compare one modem to another?
Is there something else I shood look at besides the speed?

Eg: Motorola Chipset 56K v.92 PCI Data/Fax Modem (using currently, its really small and chincy, but I figured this was just because it is almost obsolete technology.??)

What is your speed on the connection? You may be getting a terrible speed rate from the company you have the service from. Some are 32KB, not the full 56Kb you can get with a dial up modem.

As for your question, ahh they are all the same really. Some have better software/interfaces but 56k is 56k no matter what your modem is. As long as your line is giving you that rate that is

With those restrictions you have to be die hard anti-dialup to agree to those terms of service. Good luck with that choice considering it is like a choice between smashing your hand with a hammer or with a brick.......

Ya, once I got used to it though it is Super nice compared to dial up. I get movies and stuff that took weeks on dial up in just hours when planned right
