Damn, I never paid attention to my ping in games, but does it change when gaming online or is it the same as if you just were at your desktop and test the ping.
Either way mine is like 6-10ms usually 8 or 9 like 96% of the time. Not sure why yours is so high, unless it changes while gaming online, I never checked or cared too I guess the luxury of a fiber line and not having any latency lag really. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test Use those and report your results, see if it's the same as what it says when you game. Like I said, I never needed to look nor cared everything was just smooth sailing but on the desktop with no gaming going on that pingtest I get around 8 or 9 all the time. **EDIT** The Problem may also be with your Realtek gigabit controller, I've had some issues with Realtek controllers, was easily solved with a pci Ethernet card from Intel. I also don't recall any issues with my Marvell one, on an old machine that died, it ran really good. Last edited by DeathViperX; 11-18-2009 at 05:43 PM. |

It depends on the path your connection is taking to the game server. I have seen my connection from Detroit to New York take a path from Chicago - Denver - Los Angeles - Phoenix - Dallas - Atlanta - Boston - New York.

Yeah, that's true, I forgot to think of that lol.
I guess I'm spoiled on my stupid fast fiber line, I've never had latency lag or any issues at least nothing I notice so I never bothered to check my ping etc, from the games servers standpoint. |
