Default External Dual Bay SATA HDD Interface Choice

I'm looking at setting up an external dual bay 750GB in RAID 1.

I have a choice of two type interfaces.

(1) An enclosure that includes a PCI-Express card controller to.

(2) Another that is a pass through device using full Speed eSATA 3Gbps ports.

I'm looking at option (2) because I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R motherboard with 2 GSATA ports available, and a bracket I can install to make the eSATA cable connections from enclosure to bracket, then to board.

I see it as eleminating the added controler in the PCI-Express slot and using the available motherboard ports.

Am I missing anything?

I have not tested any of the PCIe controller based external devices, but I have found that all of the eSATA devices I've tried will transfer data at full SATA speeds.
