I need help with sata and this mobo
I have not built a computer in years, To the question. I have 2 sata HD one 250 GB and one 500 GB. Going to install XP pro on one and the other one will be for storage. I bought the GIGABYTE GA-EX58-ud3r MOBO. It has 8 sata ports. I have no idea which ones to use. I am not setting up raid. There is 2 white ones and 6 blue ones. the manual doesn't explain or at leat i do not understand how to or which sat port or ports to use for a single HD and a another hardrive

Did you check your drives for jumpers? If you did and got that right you can continue. Connect the SATA drive you want the XP Pro on to SATAII_0 Then connect the other to SATAII_1. These are the first 2 blue SATAII. After you install your drives check that your bios is set to optimized defaults.
