I've looked at the bios, controlled the cable, but I haven't figured out a solution.... any tips? thanks, :) mad_alfred P.S. I've got several partions on my hard drive ; 46 MB FAT 32 ( for boot loader) 22 GB NTFS ( WinXP sp1) 15 GB Linux ext2 ( LINUX Mandrake 9.2) + 300MBswap

perhaps your mobo doesn't support ata133, not all do
also, ata133 is really just a gimic. it doesn't offer any real advantages over ata100 with current mobos. Basically, if you don't get ata133 you not missing out on anything.
